'It has been a year since Kaarbanik Sound’s first release, a year in which our branches have grown and multiplied creating its own system of eclectic sounds. Now we keep on exploring and enlarging our family tree. KAB008 is an image of our roots and of the collaboration between Sevillian artists and their collectives and labels. In this case, the main guilty parties are Industrias 94, Kaarbanik Sound and Nerdiboy Records, resulting in the ‘Salvia Divinorum’ EP.
Lorenzo Soria blesses us with the title track that leads into a rare territory of well-being, joy and internal search, surrounded by wonky synths and beats, deep pads, a groovy bassline recorded by Darío del Moral (Fiera / Pony Bravo) and a voice known to some that speaks to us about a plant used by seers for time immemorial: Salvia Divinorum. Soria stays loyal to his own style and signature sound praised by many. He is an artist to look out for, and has released tracks before on Flumo Recordings, yet always keeping close to the collective of which he is one of the main organs: Industrias 94.
The second track is a remix by Bristol based Shoksuit, original author of Kaarbanik Sound, and explores even more the deepness and the spiritual search in Lorenzo Soria’s track.
Last, but not least, Nerdiboy takes us back with his own version of ‘Salvia Divinorum’, clearly portraying his influences of raw and lo-fi house, in resemblance of that of Detroit and Chicago. He is the mastermind behind the new Nerdiboy Records, but has been a long time contributor to the Sevillian scene, being a part of Minimized Music, and having released techno and ambient music with Flumo Recordings, Pentax Records and Line Explorations (forthcoming) under the names 1101 and Mensaje Sanador.
The musicality of these tracks drags us into a deep and fluid ecosystem in which, just like Salvia, lifeforms grow and reproduce searching for light in our cities, so submerged in darkness.'
