"Following the conceptual ambient CD by Akira, ‘The Moth Club’, Kaarbanik Sound reaches its 10th release with a digital-only single by label owner Hartta (formerly known as the genre-crossing Shoksuit). With a strong visual collaboration between Hb1718 & Kaarbanik, the label is ready to showcase ‘KAB010’ openly and loudly. The producer explores the depths of Dubstep here, which contains a strong focus on organic sounds, weighty melodic bass lines and tribalistic atmospheres.
The opening track ‘Hylidae Dub’ is a bouncy and flute-filled cut which takes its name from the Hylidae family of frogs (commonly known as ‘tree frogs’). It jumps up and down a wave of solid bassweight, while the mysterious atmospheres induce darker prospects. Such a rhythm is hard to deny on any dancefloor or any home situation. You’ve been warned.
The flip ‘Tribe’ is a moodier production, with a title which refers to the sample that plays under the whole track. It unwinds chaoticly through the use of loose bassline automation and intriguing organics. With strong support from African-esque percussion that vibes rigorously, it resembles a cut that plays an important role in the origins of the true ‘Kaarbanik Sound’.
Both jams explore what Karbaanik Sound refers to as ‘deep dub’, where throbbing basslines and organic percussion meet the laws of dub. Excellent space and reverb has been incorporated to enlighten them both, something we call exquisite implementation. Expect more of this sound in the future, as the mood has been set for the next few releases lined up on the label." - Signalfire
